Hilight of our trip! PDF Print E-mail

We had a wonderful day ! From the time the driver picked us up in Kuta till the moment he dropped us back.
Visits to all food markets, rice paddies and information about the family compounds all very interesting>
Puspa and Wayan went out of their way to include everybody and offered as much hands on as people wanted to experience.
It was a very hot day and they were continually looking out for everyone and made a point of speaking to everyone individually and finding out a little about them as well as sharing alot of themselves.

PAON BALI COOKING CLASS - BEST THING WE DID IN BALI PDF Print E-mail

Our family did the Paon Cooking Class. This was the best thing we did in Bali without getting ripped off. The Hosts were very interesting and funny and passionate. Making sure that everyone was happy. Went out of there way to ensure we had enough food, especially cooking a soup for my husband and son because they didn'tlike the mushrooms.
Apparently someone wrote on there site that they talked to much, I feel people should stop and think before they make these comments, as they talked enough for us to understand the culture etc. Best day out and hands on as well.

Wonderful cultural experience PDF Print E-mail

We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Puspa and Wayan. They are truly professional at what they do. The food we prepared was the best we had eaten in Bali all week. We really appreciated the opportunity to experience the market and the rice paddies where Wayan explained the intricacies of the culture. I would recommend this to those wanting a cultural and food experience within a Balinese home, and perhaps not for those wishing a one on one master class. I came away with a good appreciation of the local food.

Forget Bumbu Bali restaurant, this is the real Balinese food. Fantastic! PDF Print E-mail

What can I say... We have been a little disappointed with the true Balinese food until last night. What a wonderful setting, accompanied by two funny and truly entertaining hosts with amazing food. Even got a tour of the rice paddies!

Can highly recommend it! PDF Print E-mail

We loved this cooking class. The hosts Wayan and Pupsa really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and give you a great experience. It is brilliantly organised. I agree, this was not just a cooking class this was a cultural experience. Well worth the money. Great meal!
My only criticism would be that they need to be careful about numbers. There were 20 people in our class and I would have enjoyed it even more if there had of been a max of 10-12 people. So my advise would be to ask how many bookings they have for the day you want to go. It was also a slightly long winded experience. But I still can't fault it for the food, hospitiality, organisation and experience.

for anyone who eats - highly recommended PDF Print E-mail

Nothing was too much trouble. There was plenty of opportunity to cook - but fine for those who were happier to talk and observe. The trip to the market was great and visting the rice paddy was very informative - increased our appreciation of the Balinese lifestyle. The food was truly unbelievable - flavours and textures were magnificent, big variety of dishes, and they catered without batting an eyelid for three different food allergies / avoidances / intolerances. We would recommend this experience for anyone who eats!

A wonderful cultural and culinary experience! PDF Print E-mail

We were a group of 8 (with two kids) with a mixture of meat eaters, vegetarians and three with fish and garlic allergies- but nothing was too much trouble for Wayan and Aunty Puspa! Such an interesting and varied experience. There was plenty of hands on preparation and lots of chances to contribute to the cooking. The food was scrumptious +++. The visit to the market and rice field made so interesting due to Wayan's knowledge and his willingness to share his culture. Highly, highly recommended.

Informative and interesting menu.......great fun too on 16th April PDF Print E-mail

We had a fantastic experience from booking to transfers from our Villa property to Ubud market, paddi field explanations and warm hospitality in the home or Wayan and Puspa. We have already just last night entertained guests back in Sydney with some of the delicious recipes....which were well received. Have recommended to more friends who are in Bali now for Easter.

Wonderful! PDF Print E-mail

It was raining that day, but the hospitality and excellent customer service made it the rain disappear. This wonderful couple let us into their home and showed us the essence of Bali and Balinese cuisine. Loved the food! They were careful if anyone had allergies or foods they couldn't eat. This was really a great experience.

My most memorable experience in Bali PDF Print E-mail

Thanks to Puspa and Wayan, I felt I was celebrating a great family feast and everyone present was family, cooking together. Starting with the market experience with Puspa, the rice fields with Wayan, and then back to the family compound to experience a home-cooked Balinese meal at its best, it is difficult to find words to express my joy and delight. I thoroughly enjoyed the preparations, especially because everything was so fresh and hands-on experience was encouraged. I was the only vegetarian that day and Puspa made sure I was not left out; in fact, I helped prepare and ate the most delicious vegetarian meai I've ever eaten. Paon Bali Cooking Class is a must for anyone visiting Bali.

A Must See PDF Print E-mail

It was more than a cooking class it was a cultural experience. Puspa and Wyan were wonderful and make you feel at home. The market tour was 'golden' and Puspa took the time to explain everything even what prices to pay for certain items and we were able to taste fresh produce. Puspa was a great teacher and was support by amazing staff. The food was fantastic and the company was great. Their house was beautiful and their kitchen garden was inspirational. This was the highlight of my trip.

Best Food EVER!! PDF Print E-mail

This was a great way to spend a day in Ubud. We were picked up at our hotel and taken to the markets, which was an experience in itself. The food we cooked was hands down the best tasting food I had my entire trip in Bali. We were also given the recipes for everything we made on the day to try at home. My only complaint would be the size of the cooking class - there were 17 people on the day I did it. Their kitchen is quite large and they were able to handle the size, but I would have preferred a more intimate class.

Extremely authentic and an experience that won't be forgotten! PDF Print E-mail

Paon cooking class was more than a cooking class. It was a wonderful insight into Balinese culture and the life that they lead. Puspa and wyan were great hosts and made us feel like we were at home. Cooking class with Puspa and her lovely staff was fab and can't wait to get home and start cooking some of the wonderful dishes that we learned. My husband that has a "don't cook / won't cook attitude" loved it also and is inspired to try some dishes at home in our kitchen! If you are visiting Ubud I would highly recommend Paon Bali cooking class!

Awesome Day out PDF Print E-mail

Our day out with Puspa and Wayun was educational and fun. Our group of 6 thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of this. It was more than just a cooking class. We got to visit the markets and rice paddies and to top it off we got to enjoy cooking at their home. Puspa was so kind and patient with all us amatuer indonesian cooks, and Wayun talk was educational and he also made the perfect host. We learnt so much, had a laugh and had the best lunch ever. WE would highly recommend this day out to all that love good food and good company.

Just a great day PDF Print E-mail

Not being a cook, I had some reservations when my wife suggested we attend a cooking class, but this was much more!
It turned out to be as much a cultural experience as a cooking class. The family running the school are delightful and obviously take a great deal of pride in their culture. The food was amazing and everyone gets to sample the results with a lunch to end the day. We were very impressed with the level of hygiene and the care taken to accommodate everyone in the process. Very, very good value and very worthwhile.

One for good luck PDF Print E-mail

Great day five stars from us. The market and rice paddy tour starts off the day well then you learn a little about their culture beliefs and such like. Then the cooking it is so much fun Puspa, Wayan and the rest of the staff, as well as all the other people you meet from so many different areas and back grounds make it so much fun and the food is just wonderful. Can't wait to try a few reciepes when we get back to Perth, even had a vegetarian dish that I never thought could taste so good. If your only a little bit into food this is a must do it is brilliant. Thanks Honey Bunny

A Fantastic Expirience in Bali!!!! PDF Print E-mail

Paon Bali Cooking Class was one of the best activities we did in Bali.  Don't be mistaken by the title. It is more than a cooking class.  Wayan provides free pickup at your hotel in Ubud. From there you stop at his family's personal rice paddy where he explains the process of making rice from growing the plants to maintaining them all the way to harvesting and cooking the rice.  The paddies themselves are a beautiful green-yellow during March and this was a perfect time to take pictures.

After touring the paddies Wayan's wife Puspa was our personal guide through the local food markets where she explained the differences between strainers and hats, spices and herbs, and fruits and vegatables.
